The romantic dining allure often found in the countryside exists just on the edge of downtown Minneapolis. Resting on the scenic acreage of historic Nicollet Island, this restaurant offers Old World ambience, outstanding cuisine and a spectacular view of the city's birthplace on the Mississippi. The weekly changing menu of European-inspired fare with international influences will impress registered guests and dating couples alike. Distinctively prepared dishes may include oven-braised walleye, beef tenderloin poached in a savory broth and a wild mushroom risotto. Prices range from about $25-$40 for most entrees. An award-winning wine list completes the dining picture. Dark lacquered wood, crisp white linens and flowers at each table create an elegant setting. The restaurant is also popular with downtowners who want something classy as a business lunch option, and the Sunday brunch is always rated one of the area's best. For a more casual, but equally stylish, dining and drinking option, Nic's Bar is the Inn's alternative. Lighter fare, from unique appetizers to burgers, and full bar service is available. Whether you want an ideal place for an amorous dinner date or just a fine meal, add the Inn to your list. -- John Sharpe

What a Pleasant Surprise!
By JoeyJoJoJr1379 on 06/06/2008
My husband and I live just a few blocks away from the Inn but we hadn't been there in a while, so last weekend we decided to stop in for a drink. What a wonderful surprise! We sat on the patio and had an appetizer -- the flavor was so good and the atmosphere was so comfortable we decided to stay for dinner. Everything on the menu (which the waitress told us had just recently been updated for the season) looked delicious and when our entrees arrived the dishes were impeccably presented and full of complex flavor. They even had a live piano player and singer! All of this and very reasonable prices. We will definitely be back!

Arrogance does not = class
By mralyons on 07/18/2007
The Nicollet Island Inn has really gone downhill. I used to frequent the place but have not been back for about a year. I went there over the weekend with friends Arrogance does not equal class or fine dinning sorry but the Inn has that one wrong!! Dinning room manager could use a few lessons in hospitality!! General Manager could also have a brush up class in it!! Two men that don't know the meaning of the words Hospitality or service more likely feel that it just doesn't apply to them!! Chef obviously hasn't been cooking long wait staff slow and or not there" Bartender needs to learn to make drinks and not be pucking his eye brows so much and looking at himself in the mirror. This place is no longer what it was and sadly not what it could be. SAVE your money and go somewhere with good food and good service i know that i will next time!

Needs Improvement
By mackayathome on 07/07/2007
We stayed there for 1 night. It felt like a real getaway but we were very disappointed with the food. During our stay we ate lunch, dinner and brunch and all of the meals were lacking. We would stay again but would definitely plan to eat elsewhere.
