Tampa Hyde Park Cafe   

An evening garden party is one of the ways that locals like to describe this South Tampa favorite, but it's a garden party with an edge. Weekends are generally packed with beautiful 20-somethings, different music plays nightly, and the venue's pizza bar is one of the area's best-kept secrets. Housing three very different bars under one roof, Hyde Park Cafe has multiple personalities, one hipster, one club kid and one hippie. Velociti is a clean, futuristic-looking, indoor drinking spot. Then there's Cafe Courtyard which, as the name implies, is an outdoor venue and serves as Hyde Park Cafe's dance floor. It can become so crowded on weekend nights, it might better be called a stand-in- one-spot-and-wiggle floor. Finally, Wally & Bernie's Lounge is the spot to chow down on pizza. Its decor features lots of wood and a look that's modern overall. The cafe offers different musical themes each night. For example, Tuesday is jazz and funk while Thursday serves up salsa and Latino rock. While you have to be 21 to drink here, women (not guys) ages 18 and up area admitted on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Nightly drink specials run from $5 Mad Melon Margaritas to $2.50 bottles of Rolling Rock. Laura Spinale
