Most nightclub-slash-restaurants tend to favor one identity over the other. But Rumjungle has flourished in both pursuits, often to the same clientele. If the restaurant garners more attention sometimes, it's because patrons don't have to pass the "cool" test, administered by the club's bouncers, to get served. The decor is post-modern Ricky Ricardo, accentuated by conga drums, an eye-catching wall holding 160 flaming torches, elementally balanced by a water-wall effect and raindrop chandeliers. The real firewater is behind the bar, illuminated by 5,000 fiber-optically lit bottles of liquor, including 142 varieties of rum. After 10PM, the club conversion begins, and a slightly older, wealthier crowd takes to the dance floor to the beat of techno, top 40, and a spicy mix of Latin house music, spun by DJ Toast. If you want to sit between dances, you have to pay for the privilege, because the booths are reserved for VIP customers, meaning those willing to pay the $20 cover.

Not my idea of great dining
By katkellyh on 02/16/2007
My husband and I like to try new places when we come to Las Vegas. For the Brazillion food we always went to Sambas at the Mirage. Well ,this time, thought we'd try RumJ- What a mistake-went early for the dining and was dissed from the moment we walked in. The place was not at all busy so that was no excuse for being ignored. The girls who waited on us were very polite but we felt like an after-thought. Food came in different shifts- not in an appropriate order. Then my husband and I decided to have a cig. We were told to go up to the bar. ONE other person sitting at the Bar and the Bartender{Female} barely acknowledged us- I have been a B-Tender for 26 years and would not treat a customer this way and expect a tip. By the way -just for sitting at her bar we left 10 bucks.Overall ,because the food was actually tasty I gave the place 2 stars- Not going back- My thought was it was really just a niteclub and that later in the evening the energy was better . But I 'll never find out and Recommend Sambas for the great food -
