Jeffreys legendary chef, David Garrido, cooks for the President. Of the United States. What more do you need to know? Okay, heres the rest... Jeffreys deserves its reputation as a celebrity hot spot. On any given night you could see movie stars, international men of intrigue and even a few politicians. The ambience is quiet and cozy, the service efficient and unobtrusive. The food is Southwestern with a Latin American twist. Youll find things like Crispy Oysters on Yucca Root Chips with Habanero Honey Aioli, Tempura Sea Scallops on Mixed Greens with Avocado and Poblano Cilantro Ranch, Duck and Shrimp with Rosemary Gnocchi, Chard and Sun-Dried Tomato Olive Sauce and White Chocolate Orange Almond Cake with Grand Marnier Bon Bon and Kumquats. j's started off as a true example of excellence but has proven the proverb of time. Surly wait staff, so so food, at best trendy menu selections based on popular magazines. Want to impress people by how much you and spend on a food bill, j's is the place. Bad night for the chef? No, bad decade for the whole place. Time to rethink the establishment. Let me know when J2 opens, I might visit again.

Disappointment

We went to Jeffrey's for a birthday dinner with 8 people this past Sunday night, the service was slow, slow, slow. My duck was over cooked and under flavored which was the reaction of the other 2 who had the duck, the apps were fair and of the 8 who had dinner 5 of us came away with disappointment and dismay. Only 4 of the party had eaten there before and those 4 were unhappy with the meal and service. Maybe an off night or maybe a unrealistic expectation but for the $2000n dropped by my father the night should have been spectacular or at least acceptable. The Jeffrey's coffee was awesome.

Delightful experience. Two of us split an order of crab cakes which were the best I've had anywhere. Our entrees, beef tenderloin and veal Osso Buco were cooked to perfection. Sorry, we had no room for dessert.
