Imagine an elegant mountain cabin, says manager Avery Schaffer, and you've got an idea of the ambience at Blue Ridge Grill. "It feels as if you're in a ski lodge," she says: knotty pine, a big fireplace, nice and cozy. The wooden pillars come from an old Georgia cotton mill, the antiques from England. The four dining rooms range from quiet to noisy; there are nooks and crannies throughout. What diners perhaps first notice upon entering is the exhibition kitchen, where executive chef Michael Auer grills meats over hickory wood. The cuisine could be termed American regional, or hearty Southern. The menu includes venison, duck, veal, and rack of lamb, done in a variety of ways. Duck, for example, is roasted with a honey glaze, then served with goat cheese and potato gratin. Steak might be filet mignon, rib-eye, or a New York strip, served with mashed potatoes and collard greens. Then there's seafood: Auers horseradish-crusted grouper with fennel and grilled Georgia trout (stuffed with apples and proscuitto) are signature dishes. Or try benoits of prawns, crawfish, crab cakes, seared mussels, or oysters. Everythings a la carte. Don't expect baked potatoes; they're not done here. If you can't be seated right away, grab a spot on the wicker settees in the inviting enclosed porch and have a cocktail. Schaffer says many diners prefer to relax there over cocktails before dinner. -- Sue Kovach Shuman

I am a big fan of the Blue Ridge Grill and have been since they opened their doors many years ago. The feel of the entire place is inviting and makes you feel as if you have been transported to a cabin in the woods. Its a great place to celebrate a special occasion, have a business lunch or to take the entire family. It's very seldom that one finds the level of consistently great service and food that you will always get here. I take all of my friends and business associates who have not yet experienced it for themselves and they end up having the same urge to keep going back that I get every time I get hungry.

The perfect place for brunch, lunch or dinner! My fiancé and I fell in love with the iron skillet mussels and crab cakes. You can ACTUALLY taste the crabmeat (not imitation) in every delicious bite! The decor is warm and inviting. Ski lovers will feel like they are in Aspen or Vail. Take a trek and head on over… you will regret it!

Great Experience
By sbweth on 02/04/2008
This was my first visit to Blue Ridge Grill & I will be sure to go back again & again. The ambience of the restaurant was so cozy & inviting. I loved the round booth by the fireplace. The service was excellent, we were waited on by such a professional gentleman. I had the pork chop & it was excellent. The juiciest, tastiest pork chop I've had in a long time. Be sure to save room for dessert, they have the best pecan pie in town.
